Extra words:
This project was done over the month of March. There were two themes involved. The first ended up being a prompt from an art based challenge (I really wanted to name the game after that prompt but I decided against it, though it does appear in a line of dialogue). The second was a theme from another game jam also taking place over March. I didn't really know how to make use of the second theme. At first I didn't really think it would mesh well with the other theme, but then I figured oh I can just theme/customize it in line with the other one. And bam the theme I wasn't too fond of became really interesting to me. From there I had to rationalize why it was like that, and ideas just kept linking well with one another. When it came to the ending I had a few ideas in mind, but I couldn't really get a proper happy ending to fit. While doing sketches for the visuals I realized a very tiny detail in a particular illustration could make things possibly much sadder, and then I thought to reinforce that detail with another detail elsewhere. That's when I decided to just go for this sort of ending instead of forcing a happy ending, or a softer final confrontation.Status | Released |
